The DisplayMaker® 98SI is a 2.5 meter wide high-speed solvent inkjet printer designed for productivity and profitability. It is a straightforward 98" production printer that produces extremely durable, high-quality output for outdoor and indoor applications. Using solvent pigmented inks on inexpensive uncoated media, DisplayMaker 98SI lets you sell great-looking output at great prices. With the optional flatbed roller tables you can even print directly onto rigid substrates. What’s more, DisplayMaker 98SI includes outstanding automated features to ensure print quality and enhance your productivity. Micro-Quad™ Technology - For true 600 x 600-dpi image resolution. DisplayMaker 98SI incorporates 16 Micro-Quad piezo printheads, each jetting a < 25-picoliter size drop, to produce high-quality output at true 600 x 600-dpi resolution. Three 600 x 300-dpi print modes are also available for even faster print speeds.

Super-Fast Output Speeds - For the serious printing professional. DisplayMaker 98SI is specifically engineered to be a production workhorse. It utilizes 16 piezo-electric printheads, totaling over 1,500 jets, to deliver print speeds of up to 700 square feet per hour in 600 x 300-dpi Billboard Quality Mode.

Self-Cleaning Printheads - For continuous productivity. Printhead and jet maintenance is easy with an on-board auto self-cleaning system and capping station. The AutoClean service station uses 16 motorized wiper blades and a solvent bath to keep printheads in peak performance.

SolaChrome-HR Inks - For durability and printhead reliability. SolaChrome inks are true solvent-based pigmented inks for direct printing onto inexpensive uncoated media. Specially formulated for Micro-Quad printheads, SolaChrome-HR inks ensure jet reliability, prolong printhead life and guarantee low maintenance. They produce highly durable output for rigorous display applications and offer an outdoor display life of up to 5 years. SolaChrome-HR inks produce vibrant, high-resolution 600-dpi output with just four process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black), therefore using significantly less ink than inferior, low-resolution 6-color competitors. Average ink cost for full coverage photographic images is $0.12 to $0.15 per square foot ($1.29 to $1.61 / sq. meter).

SolaChrome-HR ink and solvent cleaning solution is provided in 3 liter containers for high volume, low cost production.

Automatic Productivity Features - For quality assurance and ease of operation. DisplayMaker 98SI incorporates an Advanced Automation Eye — consisting of a high-resolution image sensor, color spectophotometer and embedded software, allowing the printer to automate the setup and calibration steps that are critical to achieving and maintaining outstanding print quality:

AutoSet™ Calibration - Analyzes dot placement of printed patterns and automatically sets the bi-directional alignment calibration across variable print speeds and media thicknesses.

AutoJet™ Calibration - Eliminates banding in prints and prolongs the useful life of printheads by mapping out jets that are not up to performance standards and compensating with other jets.

AutoTune™ Scheduler - Schedules the AutoJet Calibration to occur during unattended print runs to ensure maximum print quality and minimize waste or reprinting.

Linearization - Measures color density patches and supplies data to the external RIP’s color management software. The color management system then linearizes the color curves to ensure accurate and consistent color.

Color Profiling - Using a colorimetric photo diode image sensor, DisplayMaker 98SI can print and automatically read hundreds of color swatches to allow the RIP and optional ColorMark+ software to create ICC and ColorMark® color profiles for custom ink and media combinations.

Optional Rigid Media Support - Already set up with releasable, tention adjustable media feed pinch rollers, the DisplayMaker 98SI optionally can be configured with a set of 101" (257 cm) wide roller tables front and rear to support the printing of rigid substrates up to 1/4" (6.35 cm) thick and 60" (152 cm) in length.

RIP Requirements - Due to the speed and size of the DisplayMaker 98SI, a very fast RIP computer is needed to achieve the maximum print speeds the printer is capable of delivering. We recommend a minimum of a Pentium 4, 3.0 GHz processor with 1.5 Gb of RAM and a serial ATA hard drive.
